Canadian Closed Amateur DanceSport Championship On April 18/19, 2014, the City of Montréal will again host the Canadian Closed Amateur DanceSport Championship. This competition, organized by DanseSport Québec, will see the best Canadian dancers competing to win the title of Canadian Champion in their respective categories. This title will qualify them to compete in world championships in various countries throughout the upcoming year. Over 400 dancers of all ages and from all across Canada will be competing at le Centre Sheraton Montréal Hotel (downtown) which will be specially decorated for this outstanding occasion. Judges and spectators will be witness to one of the most glamorous entertainment events of the year. From early the evening of the 18th until late the night of the 19th, these couples will compete in two different Ballroom styles, Standard and Latin. In Standard Ballroom, pure elegance will be showcased as dancers present their best interpretations of the Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep. In contrast, the Latin style will mesmerize and energize the spectators with the Cha-Cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, and the very sensual Rumba. DanseSport Québec invites the greater Montréal population as well as all other Québec residents to attend this impressive event of international caliber showcasing the best Canadian amateur dancers.
